A virtual festival of performance and the arts
The Open Art Exhibition started in 2017 and has been held every year since. It is an opportunity for artists around the world to share their artwork with an online audience, in an immersive way. It is free to enter, free to visit, and open to all. This year’s virtual exhibition is going to be special. The Covid pandemic has had a big impact on live events, with many events being cancelled. So this year we are going to be presenting the exhibition in a festival style.
It is a chance for artists to be part of something truly innovative and that you will be able to share with friends, family, clients and collaborators worldwide. The festival will feature all the usual sights and sounds of a Summer festival, with a special focus on contemporary art, performance and music. There will be plenty of space for all forms of creativity, and we hope to show a diverse selection of artwork from around the world.
The closing date for entry is 15th August. It’s free to enter. You will find out of you have been selected by the end of August. The submission form and full details can be found via this link.
About the Festival and its Design
The festival take place on a virtual island, with five exhibition areas. These areas will include a lighthouse, a cliffside theatre, amountain-top chalet, and observatory and a beach with a pier. Each area will focus on it’s own form of creativity, with separate zones devoted to fine art, photography, digital arts, music & performance.
The exhibition will be released publicly in September and will be accessible online for 1 month. It will then be available as a download so that people can keep sharing and visiting the exhibition. There will also be live events, such as guided tours and artist/curator forums. We also hope to have a real-world event where people can meet face to face.
For now, you can see some images below which have inspired the design of the festival island.
